National Scholarships
An initiative of the National Security Education Program, the Boren Scholarship is awarded preference for countries, languages, and fields of study critical to U.S. national security. Preference is also given to students who will study abroad for longer periods, and who are highly motivated by the opportunity to work in the federal government. Freeman-ASIA (Freeman Awards for Study in Asia)
Freeman-ASIA is designed to support American undergraduates with demonstrated financial need and who are planning to study overseas in East or Southeast Asia. The program's goal is to increase the number of Americans with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures.
The U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity. The U.S. Department of State's Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 for undergraduate child dependents of active duty service members to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs. The Gilman-McCain Scholarship enables eligible students to develop career and leadership skills and a global perspective to pursue a career in public service and contribute to preserving the principles of democracy.
