Budgeting and Costs

Faculty Directed Program (DSP, FSP, GSA, LSA, LSA+)

The fees charged by the College for a Dartmouth-sponsored off-campus term of study include regular tuition charges for a term at Dartmouth, service fees, as well as the specific costs established for each off-campus study locale. In many programs, the room and board costs tend to be higher than for a term in Hanover.

You can view a sample budget sheet for each program by visiting the brochure page of a particular program and clicking on the appropriate term. Budget sheets for specific programs will be available in a committed student's program application in TerraDotta and is displayed in the Program Info tab.

Exchange Program

For each exchange program tuition and fees are billed a bit differently based on the agreement with the exchange partner.  Typically, Dartmouth students pay tuition and service fees to Dartmouth; room and board fees as well as transportation to and from the program site are the responsibility of the student.  You can view a budget sheet for each program by visiting the program brochure page for a particular program and clicking on the appropriate term.  Because exchange programs are official programs sponsored by the College, Dartmouth students do not need to pay the transfer term fee that the College charges to students who study on outside programs during leave terms.

Transfer Term

Student pays program directly.  The student also pays a transfer term fee of $2,200, unless they choose to be away fall term when there is no fee assessed.
